The wait for Black Panther is over
Black Panther the fastest advanced ticket sales Marvel movie ever opens February 16th. This weekend is full of sold out shows, people are planning outfits and everyone is pumped up for this. Black Panther is a BIG DEAL. This movie is important for so many reasons, and the film did not disappoint.
Let me get this out of the way, Black Panther is a solid film. Its one of the best in the MCU, but that’s not the point there’s more reasons why its great. Black Panther has a majority black cast. Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Florence Kasumba, and that’s just the main cast. There’s tribal elders in the best costumes ever and a Wakanda that leap years ahead of everyone else. People are happy and thriving, there are customs and traditions and ceremonies. Its just beautiful and you can’t help but take it all in.
Also not everyone is black we’ve even got these 2 guys with important roles.
Black Panther sits comfortably in the MCU be giving a fully immersed film without being a traditional origin story. As much as it introduces Black Panther properly to the MCU it also uses its storyline to introduce Wakanda to the world. There are story black men and stronger black women all through this film, Ayo (Florence Kasumba) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) anchor T’Challa throughout to be the force, the guidance and the badass women we love. Shuri (Letitia Wright) as the smarter younger sister is the comic relief, the Q to James Bond, she is always looking forward while still making fun of her older brother but always having his back. Yall everyone is great even the romances I won’t spoil for you.
GO see it, take your family, take your friends, go a 2nd time, its still a very solid film with great pacing and all the right arcs. The comedy is just enough because Shuri steals every single scene she’s in. I came out of Black Panther adoring Shuri so much. Black Panther will not disappoint.
