The end of August is a pretty good for DVD releases and other streaming options to watch movies at home. From new DVDs, streaming at home before DVD release and updates from Netflix check out some great picks of the week.

Paramount Pictures

The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan is finally on DVD for those who didn’t catch it in theaters or earlier this movie streaming. Its not in your Redbox machine yet and won’t be till September 24th. Also available include At Any Price starring Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron, I caught it earlier this year you can check out my review. Pain & Gain the insane based on a true story dramedy about kidnapping, murdering bodybuilders is totally worth the rent. I was so taken by the insane tales of this film I read the true story as soon as I left the theater. The documentary Koch about former NYC mayor Ed Koch, Indie flick Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s starring the Olsen twins Mary-Kate and Ashley, and Kon Tiki about a Norwegian adventurer who sets out on a raft across the Pacific. I myself plan on checking on Trance since its now in Redbox.

New to Netflix is Dredd. After watching this again, I’m again annoyed Karl Urban wasn’t picked to be the new Batman. Your experience may vary. Several films from the James Bond collection have also been added back. Titles from all the Bonds expect Daniel Craig are available. Streaming ahead of their DVD releases include, The Iceman, Now You See Me and Star Trek Into Darkness. All of these can be found available for purchase via iTunes, Amazon VOD and Vudu. For you TV fans Scandal season 2 has been added to Netflix. If you want to catch something free, Crackle has The Legend of Billie Jean, Big Fish. and the always entertaining Stripes.
