When Disney sent out their 2013 film preview back in January One of the movies that really stood out to me was Saving Mr. Banks. The film focusing on Walt Disney’s attempt to buy the rights and make a film based ont he book Mary Poppins. Now we know he succeeded but what we don’t know is just how hard it was for him to get the film made. Staring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson the concept behind this was a huge draw for me and when i saw the December expecting release its also in time for Awards season.

The Trailer for Saving Mr. Banks was released last week and it showcases Emma Thompson as P. L. Travers and the Sherman brothers the duo behind the great music are heavily featured! My anticipation for this film increased much more. Check out the trailer below and tell me what you think.

Its the story you only know some of. Most Disney fans have heard about how much Walt’s daughters loved the story of Mary Poppins and how making that film was to please his daughters more than any other body of his work. Its almost never mentioned how hard it was to make. Add that to the fact that there’s never been a Disney movie with Walt as a major character. Directed by John Lee Hancock and starring Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Annie Rose Buckley, Ruth Wilson, B.J. Novak, Rachel Griffiths, and Kathy Baker. Saving Mr. Banks opens December 20th, 2013
